Sedimental over you

Sunday, June 12, 2005: The more essays, columns and commentary that I read the more I see that the opposite of humor is not seriousness or many of its synonyms. This perception may just be among current trends, but at least for the time being, the opposite of humor is sentimentality.

Not sentiment. Sentiment is flavored or just distilled recall (Have been listening to CD set of "To Kill a Mockingbird" — polished, authentic storytelling).

I mean Sentimentality, the wistful longing to cast meaning. Wistful? I mean nauseating.

Therefore, the opposite of gag is gag. Q.E.D. -30-
