The President, capitalized, has a problem he cannot handle and calls in his predecessors, who have comic-book superhuman powers. They&#8217;re busily enjoying retirement, but when needed don the tights and capes and fly off.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif\" size=\"2\"> Last week, Jimmy Carter was monitoring the Palestinian presidential election, and George I and Bill began public appearances and taping public service announcements to encourage the giving of charity. (President Ford is 91; Clinton told Larry King that Jerry is doing great but under doctor&#8217;s orders not to fly. That was to explain Ford not being at the Clinton Presidential Library dedication at the end of 2004.)<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif\" size=\"2\"> So there they are, The Ex-Presidents, without quotes that designate a fictional construct.
