Instructors will be on hand to teach children the importance of keeping their surroundings clean and how to tell if garbage is biodegradable. A docent [me], a responsible adult [Her] and two kitty cats will be available to teach children the difference between fur balls and dust bunnies under the beds. In the kitchen, we will sustain youngsters in learning how to cook and serve us a nice slow food<\/em> meal then how to clean up afterward. In the yard, opportunities will be made available for the lab portion of our class Compost 101. The fresh compost pile needs to be turned, and the mature one needs sieving for immediate use. Spreading the ready compost among the Botanic Gardens of Shady Hill, however, can wait for an early fall weekend.
