Let us praise World Bank prez Paul Wolfowitz, not Clintonize him.<\/p>\n

The Wall Street Journal<\/em> and other leading news media report that the former Pentagon official has steered his close female friend Shaha Riza to a good job down at the store, not to mention security clearance.<\/p>\n

Did someone say clearance, as in sale?<\/p>\n

Wolfowitz previously was known as one of the architects of George II’s Iraq War, under Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. Despite the preponderance of Christians in Defense and State, some commentators cited Wolfowitz’s Jewish background when questioning the war in general and those pesky weapons of mass destruction in particular. The braver pundits pretty much said Wolfowitz was fronting for Israel.<\/p>\n

Remarks like that should put people away like similar slurs got Don Imus eighty-sixed. But that’s not what happens around here. Sad, especially because the Oxford-educated Riza apparently is extraordinarily qualified to work at a powerful institution such as the World Bank.<\/p>\n

Shaha Riza. Is that a Jewish name? She looks Semitic. She is <\/a>Semitic: A Libyan raised in Saudi Arabia, Riza became a British citizen as an adult.<\/p>\n
