{"id":307,"date":"2007-04-21T11:17:46","date_gmt":"2007-04-21T16:17:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/benpollock.com\/brick\/index.php\/2007\/04\/21\/one-man-un\/"},"modified":"2007-04-21T11:22:45","modified_gmt":"2007-04-21T16:22:45","slug":"one-man-un","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/benpollock.com\/brick\/2007\/04\/one-man-un\/","title":{"rendered":"One-man U.N."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Let us praise World Bank prez Paul Wolfowitz, not Clintonize him.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Wall Street Journal<\/em> and other leading news media report that the former Pentagon official has steered his close female friend Shaha Riza to a good job down at the store, not to mention security clearance.<\/p>\n<p>Did someone say clearance, as in sale?<\/p>\n<p>Wolfowitz previously was known as one of the architects of George II&#8217;s Iraq War, under Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. Despite the preponderance of Christians in Defense and State, some commentators cited Wolfowitz&#8217;s Jewish background when questioning the war in general and those pesky weapons of mass destruction in particular. The braver pundits pretty much said Wolfowitz was fronting for Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Remarks like that should put people away like similar slurs got Don Imus eighty-sixed. But that&#8217;s not what happens around here. Sad, especially because  the Oxford-educated Riza apparently is extraordinarily qualified to work at a powerful institution such as the World Bank.<\/p>\n<p>Shaha Riza. Is that a Jewish name? She looks Semitic. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/opinion\/blumenthal\/2007\/04\/19\/wolfowitz\/index.html?source=rss\" title=\"Wolfowitz's girlfriend problem\" target=\"_blank\">She is <\/a>Semitic: A Libyan raised in Saudi Arabia, Riza became a British citizen as an adult.<\/p>\n<p>Way to go, Wolfie.
