Say loudly (or online) that as an American you find Russian leader Vladimir <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2007\/02\/10\/AR2007021000524.html\" title=\"Putin Hits U.S. over Unilateral Approach\" target=\"_blank\">Putin&#8217;s criticism of U.S. foreign policy<\/a> gets many points right.If the prime minister of Britain made such a case, a number of U.S. pundits would laud many points and gently rebuke a few.<\/p>\n<p>If the premier of France mouthed Putin&#8217;s words, we&#8217;d be back to Freedom Fries, to rid America of all the French things we love.<\/p>\n<p>So, I propose we rename Russians things we like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Herring becomes &#8220;Jumbo Sardines.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Cabbage becomes &#8220;Whole-leaf Cole Slav.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Sour cream becomes &#8220;Freedom Whip.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Kasha becomes &#8220;Freedom Barley.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Vodka becomes &#8220;Potato Cider.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Borsht becomes &#8220;No Kidding, Beet Soup?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Caviar becomes &#8220;Fish Eggs&#8221; and why not tell the kids?<\/li>\n<li>Russian rye becomes &#8220;Jewish rye&#8221; because that&#8217;ll show &#8217;em.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>-30-<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Copyright 2007 Ben S.
