Thirteen never has been an unlucky number for me,
\nI have neither lucky nor unlucky ones, so far as I can recall.
\nAs fortunes appear clearest in retrospect, those that cast a pall
\nmight as well come from coffee grounds, tea leaves, or palmistry.<\/p>\n
Math was so easy so long ago;
\nnow it’s best to count finger and toe.
\nThat shows we “completed our thirteenth year,”
\nFourteen in a blink has started, deserving a cheer.
\nSo if now indeed is “our thirteenth anniversary”
\nThen luck’s an irrational; is that trigonometry?<\/p>\n
What we have fervently discussed over the past days
\nWasn’t so much about looking forward or back.
\nWho cares if the future is unknowable, is that a lack
\nWhen by wakeful love we can shrink Fortune’s craze.<\/p>\n
